  • Me? A Sabahan?

Today, someone said I look like a Sabahan.

Walking along Petaling Street just now in the evening, I decided to get myself a formal-looking watch.. you know, those chrome-plated ones. Thought I’d have an alternative for formal events instead of wearing my blue-green Adidas wrap watch for all occasions.

I passed many stalls, without stopping to take a nearer glimpse at them. Most of the stalls did not have many designs laid out. After passing by many stalls, I decided to stop at the next one and just take a look if there is any that caught my eye.

The watches were all wrapped up in clear plastic wrap. One of the designs did catch my eye, even though they were not the chrome-plated ones. The watch-face looked normal.. silverish.. but the special thing about it is that the wrist strap consisted of just a pair of black imitation leather cords, as thick as those that people usually wear around their necks with a silver pendant. Both pairs of ends were connected by a silver clasp.

It was interesting, I almost bought it.

The guy tending the stall asked me, “You orang mana?”
I replied, still checking out other watches, ”Saya orang PJ.”
He said, “You tak macam orang sini.”
I looked up at him. I was curious about where this guy thinks I am from. Flashing a smile, I asked him, “Saya macam orang mana pulak?”
    He replied, “Orang Sabah.”

Woah. Okay. Do I really look like a Sabahan?

Just the other day, a little girl told me that I look like a kakak..

    Uh huh..

  • A Must-Watch

Read about it at thecanticlesingers.com. Come and watch! =) I’m excited about it too.. my first large-scale musical! Have to practise real hard now, it’s in less than a month’s time and there are eight shows to do!

I think once the whole production is over, I’m gonna miss going to Bangsar for rehearsals every Thursday and Sunday nights. It’s been fun, and I’ve gotten to know other performers. We’ve had great times together. =) It’s also been enlightening, learning about acting and ways to improve.

Being in this production challenged me to balance my time, which I’m still horribly bad at. =S

Do come and catch it, if you can.

    *edit*

It’s up on kakiseni as well: http://www.kakiseni.com/events/theatre/ODQ2Nw.html.
    Watch our trailer too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHqMkfLeMjc

  • Almost.

I went to donate blood at college today!

    Well, at least, attempted to.

I was all geared up to be a proud blood donor since last week. I didn’t want to think too hard about it, in case I get all scared and backfire my own plan.

The finger-pricking during blood test was horrendously painful. The nurse had to squeeze my finger for the blood to ooze out while all the time it was throbbing with pain. =S And finally, after 21 years of my life, I know my blood type. B for boring.. I wished it was O. Dunno why.. O is interesting. Maybe it’s because many people I know are B. Just hoped mine’d be different.

And through the blood test, I found out that I was disqualified from being a blood donor. Yeah, they used the D word.. lol. Reason: Insufficient iron in my blood. A result of picking all greens and vegetables for chapfan. Because all the meat servings aren’t boneless. Bones spell out mafan and troublesome for me. KFC doesn’t count, however. =D

Another entry coming up soon! Really. I’m not pulling your leg..

  • Oh, the mess.

Starting my second year of college with the wrong foot, I could hardly get up in time for classes. Sometimes, I don’t believe in being late than never. I have no idea what’s going on in classes. Worse still, I’m still in a holiday mood!

There seems to be so much happening around me.. college assignment to think about, my upcoming interview with a celebrity, my constant vocal practices which are not really all that constant, musical rehearsals and practices which clash with captainball practice, King’s Kids craft preparation, upcoming Orang Asli trip and my uncle and aunt coming down from Ipoh for medical check-up and chemo.

Not to forget, the mess in my room. I’ve spent one hour sorting out junk and the rest of the two days procrastinating. I’m just not in the mood to clean them out and arrange them nicely. I need to clean my room so that I can live in it again and move out of my mum’s room. I’m kicked out anyways, because my sister will be moving in there while my aunt and uncle occupy my sister’s room.

And the mess in my organizer. All my scribblings are so.. disorganized. *sigh* The columns are too small. I have so much to write, so much to remind myself.

I don’t know why I can never keep my room neat and tidy consistently. My pattern is, I spring-clean my room, maintain it for at least a month and after that the mess will just magically appear! Then I’ll wait till I have the mood to spring-clean again.

    I need a kick. =S

  • What’s Your Love Language?

Ripped the title of Jeff’s blog. =p I’m starting to miss camp.. it was lovely. The site was lovely, the activities was lovely, the people were lovely.. you get my point. It was a getaway for me, away from the hectic world back at home. A time of refreshing, a time of learning and spiritual awakening.

I miss everyone in camp too. I had fun with my chalet mates, Joycelin, Jessica and Jadeline. Yeah, all J’s. Jade knocks out pretty quickly when it was bedtime. She’s so cute.. she stroked my arm when she wanted to go to sleep. She told me that she does that when she sleeps beside her mum. Awww.. after that, Joycelin and I went a little cuckoo; we lifted our feet which are covered with our sleeping bags and pretended that they were puppets. Couldn’t stop giggling. =p But that was the night we managed to talk until we were really tired. It was nice. =)

And who would’ve thought Jade was a loony! During bedtime, she went around our chalet waving a small bit of mosquito coil chanting, “Mosquito go away..” in a somewhat chanty tone. Think mediums in a temple. All of us were stunned for a moment, then we burst out laughing!

I saw my first firefly in my whole life! =D

Of course there’s more to the camp than just this. It’s late, I shall continue another time.

Oh, a little advertisement here: the camp photo CDs are out! Selling like hot cakes at RM5 a copy. Kudos goes to Jeff, who painstakingly edited every photo.. over 900 of them! If you would like to purchase a copy, do contact him or approach him during YF.

  • Crustacean

    I’m definitely an impulsive buyer..

    tell me who isn’t.

  • What a Perfect Timing

Was caught off guard when I was happily stitching away. I didn’t expect Streamyx peeps to turn up at my doorstep today. I’ve lodged a report for my frequent disconnection ages ago and thinking that they have forgotten all about it, a white Kelisa with TM logo splashed on its sides honked at my gate.

And oh drat.. my computer table’s a mess! CDs cluttered everywhere, a pink furry handphone pouch (??), a few letters and pamphlets mingled with my mouse.. I can’t even find my mouse! Ah, thank God for its pink light (no, not red, it’s PINK.. yeah, it’s sppeeeccciiiaaalll!!). Vicks VapoRub sat quietly in the shadow of my monitor, a nail clipper on my minidisc, two rings, my dormant wireless mouse Ben gave, a thin screwdriver for resetting my modem, a calculator to calculate my online DiGi bill and one and a half pair of earrings. My wooden Froggie crouched on my monitor.

One of the TM guy liked the froggie. He said he saw one too in another customer’s house. I noticed my camera was lying next to the keyboard.. rats, I forgot to keep that. I made a mental note to keep an eye on it, and it’d better still be there when they leave. I couldn’t just reach over and grab it. It’s just that, I don’t know who these people are, whether they are good or bad, honest or cunning.

Was rather scared too, since I was the only one and two guys were entering the house. I left the main door wide open. And perfect timing.. I was wearing spaghetti straps at that moment. Was gonna go for class. Couldn’t have felt more vulnerable if I were in baby tees instead. At least I wasn’t in my home shorts.

They suspected the splitter’s the one causing the problem. So they changed it for me. Then they replaced my modem with theirs, to check the connection. Boy, I loved the new modem.. so sleek! Dark blue with three-coloured LED lights!! Red, yellow and green. Hmm.. that looks familiar. As opposed to my dull blue grey with only green LED lights. I was hoping that it’ll be mine.. mine.. MINE.. but when he said, “Your modem’s fine.” my heart sank. =(

The connection was still as bad as it was before, after they left. A wee bit better, but it just wouldn’t stay connected for long. I’ll give it a a couple of days, if it’s still like that, I’m gonna go mad first and then call Streamyx again.

  • Real Life CS?

That’s me holding a real M16! =) Without the bullets, of course. Askar Wataniah exhibited weapons – at least three rifles, if I’m not mistaken. Isaac invited me over from my Choir Society registration counter to show me the guns.

He showed me how to check whether the rifle was ‘bulletless’ and parts of the rifle, which I only can remember the firing chamber. =p Imagine me actually shooting with a real M16.. I think I’ll fly backwards instead. At that spur of moment when I was holding that weapon, trying to aim at something, I imagined myself in a jungle and actually found an M16 on the ground. Would I dare to check whether it really is loaded with bullets? Or would I actually dare to pick it up to shoot enemies?

Now I understand why they really have to train themselves up.. these rifles are heavy! Nevertheless, it was interesting. Thanks, Isaac. =)
