  • Musically Challenged

I was flipping through my dusty primary school yearbooks, and came across a school-leavers’ page. then I thought of the teachers who had been teaching in my former primary school.

    Particularly, my music teachers.

At first it was Mrs Hon. When she left, Mrs Ding took over. Heheh.

p/s: I enjoyed singing Disney songs in class. Mrs Hon would make us copy down the lyrics from the blackboard and sing along to the tunes of ‘Somewhere Out There’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘A Whole New World’, ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ and a whole lot of other songs which I can’t remember. Bean sprouts or black cherries made little sense to me in those six years of education. I only know how to read very-berry basic notes. =p

  • Beaded Hairclip

would you buy it if it’s for sale?

  • Image Mosaic Generator (V2.0)

you know those cool pictures which are made out of many little pictures?

this site was featured in this month’s cleo magazine. it’s called the Image Mosaic Generator.

upload any picture and it will be converted into a mosaic piece. personally i find that it works better with portraits and pictures with people in it. i tried uploading pictures of my flowers and they ended up looking like a blob of orange. =s

this is the 25% of its original size.

as quoted in the site, “if an image is worth a thousand words, a picture mosaic is worth a million words.”

    literally.

  • Ignorance is Bliss in this case

Can’t people who finish reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows keep the ending to themselves rather than blurt it out on the WWW for everyone to see? T.T I mean, it’s just day 13 of the its release! Not even two full weeks. I was just blogsurfing and came across a blog entry which basically summarized the ending in a short sentence.

Feeling exactly the same way I did when I have been dodging people who had read Book 5 and were dying to tell the ending. Finally someone who didn’t read the book blurted it out in front of Ray and me. His account of that experience is here. Imagine the utter disappointment.

Give chance for slow readers like me la. I haven’t even gotten my hands on a copy yet. =(

  • Cameron Highlands

finally my cousin passed me the pictures we took at camerons! it was a two-day trip, spent most of our time at brinchang and tanah rata. mum and her older sis were crazy over vegetables and taking full advantage of the markets, while my cousins and i marveled at bouquets and knick-knacks. i didn’t bring my camera, used cousin’s canon digital ixus 750.

cousin at the summit of the hill. we climbed up only to find … nothing. except plain grass hilltop and a tower.

    making my way down..

the pink one insisted that she must squat too. so she writhed out of her father’s arms and found space beside me.

    the cousins’ new pendants

the next morning, there was more gallivanting.

  • Somewhere Over the Rainbow

i’ve always wanted a music box. appearance doesn’t really matter, the most important thing would be the song. beethoven’s fur elise is too common. and many boxes with rare tunes and colourful compartments are too expensive. electronic music boxes? no way. some are out of tune and they don’t have that classic metal tinkle.

i found this box last saturday at the flea market. this was considered a junk. the plastic jewellery box with brown woody finish opened up to a badly hand-painted mirror which was a little slanted. the mechanism was visible.. there was supposed to be a piece of mirror atop it and a swan figurine dancing on it.

i wound the key under the box to see whether i would still sing. and it sung a beautiful tune of ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ flawlessly. a rare tune! despite the mispositioned mirror and that missing piece of mirror covering the mechanism, it became mine for a mere rm5. =)

i’d say it’s a good buy. i can fix the mirror. but i’m leaving it as it is, for now.

  • of Robes and Mortarboards

i felt like a bridesmaid fussing over a bride’s dress or headdress or veil when i adjusted peiling’s unraveled black tassel on her mortarboard.

i was happy to see my classmates graduate last saturday morning. and honoured to meet family members of amanda, michelle and peiling. these are the magpies i hung out with since i entered college, but never got to meet their family members face-to-face. well, i finally did, and am glad i did. =D

didn’t really snapped much photos.. despite being happy for them, i felt a wee bit sad that i couldn’t graduate with them. i long to wear the robe and have a mortarboard on my head, up on stage receiving my cert. i will treasure this very much when i graduate next year, because i’m not sure if i’m ever gonna pursue a degree. if i end up not doing degree in the future, next year could be the only chance i take part in a convocation. my convocation. with a bouquet in my arms and smiles and friends around me. *dreams*

    congrats, peeps. =) *huggles*

amanda and a girl she just met at the convo. like, whaa..? convo also can meet new people?? =p

peiling and i and my flabby arm! X(

besides meeting family members, i got to meet peiling’s church members too!

amanda, my same-surname-buddy-cum-lecturer+tutor ms chan, and peiling. XD sorry yea, ms chan, i’m not a pro photographer la, your office was abit dark too! ehhee!

ms chan was my lecturer and tutor for malaysia and international relations which i *cringe* failed to pass because i find it so difficult and i still do find it difficult and confusing which resulted in me not being able to graduate from diploma in journalism because i wasn’t trying hard enough. T.T

  • housework and firstborn

A RAMBLING. You have been warned.

i’m quite sick with life of being a firstborn.

i don’t know whether all eldest siblings feel this way. i feel more burdened because i’m expected to be responsible for everything. especially housework.

recently, i have been easily ticked off when my mum asked me to bathe the dog or mop the floor or hang out the clothes to dry. i find that she is always picking on me. issit because i’m an easy target? that i’m the one most easy to bully? she never did ask my sister nor my cousin. it’s always the eldest who does the work. i find that horridly unfair.

the easiest excuse is, they are studying. what in the world?? oh, i’m not studying but working so i have to do issit? then what about two years ago when i was still studying? i WAS doing the housework too!

when i told my mum to delegate, she’d half-heartedly ask my sister to do, and she being the fierce one always snapped back and say that she’s busy. busy busy busy.. everyone’s busy wert! and then there’s my cousin who is staying with us because she’s studying in a nearby uni.. which my mum NEVER delegated ANYTHING to her, because she’s a guest. i scratch my head and say an ear-shattering “HUH?” life is good for her, ain’t it?

whenever i protest and rebelled, mum would give that mengada look and say, “ok, fine, i don’t need you to do.” that’s when i get really scared. and i hate myself for being scared at that. i hate it when my mum uses that tone.

i really dislike sundays at home. once i get back from church, that’s it. do this do that.. when the other two can sit and enjoy the tv or the internet. i have been very patient, and i think it’s wearing thin. i get easily annoyed more easily now. i have forgotten what is grace and mercy. i am starting to get destructive at home. this rage inside me makes me feel difficult to breathe; it’s uncomfortable and it’s scaring me. it forced my tears to well up and i had to fight back to refrain myself from flinging a coffee mug on the floor.

Colossians 3 spoke right at me. Paul said in the epistle: “we must rid myself of anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language and lies from our lips. therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. forgive as the Lord forgave you. and over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

is there something i overlooked? amanda once said that life is how we make it to be. if i choose to do everything cheerfully (which is rather impossible at this point in time) things wouldn’t be so bad right? can i really do chores happily, watching the other two lazing around while i slave away? doesn’t really solve the ‘justice’ issue, does it? as jon said before, life is unfair. can’t it be changed? can’t it be life HAS to be fair?

i’m so tired. i’ve swept and mopped the floor, folded the clothes, and hung out the clothes and last night, cleared out a messy cupboard.. holding on to colossians 3 for dear life before i smash something else, i will go and drown bathe the dog now.

  • Little Red Invader

my ear almost got invaded by this little fella.

i put it back to the leaves and it was happier, i think, than being squashed between my soil-stained fingers.

i had no idea the veins of the leaves were gonna turn out this way. i mean, i couldn’t see properly what i was shooting because the sun was so bright. bug looks fake there though.

  • Green Life

Look at what I found in my crabitat (my hermit crab’s habitat)!

My cousin shone the light onto the shoot as I took the picture, both of us laughing nonstop. =p The purple crustacean is at the background, under the white and brown seashell.

Even mum burst out laughing when she saw the little plant growing in the sand! I can’t identify what plant is that.. it’s either cherry tomato or cucumber, because I fed him those! A seed had somehow given birth to this young baby in a desert of sea sand. Must be an ambitious one.
