  • Does Toothpaste Expire?

the whole house argued whether toothpaste has expiry dates.

i just threw away a travel-sized tube two days ago because it looked off-white and tasted sourish. i checked for an expiry date, and found it at the crimped end of it. at least i think it was. i spotted four numbers which made sense. 2003! i rummaged the stock drawers and found that we ran out of toothpaste. that travel-sized tube was the only one in the house.

the next day, it appeared back in its holder. i thought mum saw it in the trashbin and picked it up. but no, it was another brand new travel-sized tube of off-white toothpaste! in the end, jon dropped me at giant supermarket and i went home with a tube of fancy triple-coloured toothpaste – stripes of glass blue, green and opaque white! =D changes are good. i’m tired of white for two decades. little changes like this makes teethbrushing a lot more fun!

mum kept saying that toothpaste has no expiry dates. she said that the four digits i discovered was either the year it was manufactured, or product/batch code. but still, if it was produced in 2003, that’s quite a long time ago, isn’t it? a four-year-old toothpaste. hmm.

so i surfed on the wonderful waves on the internet to quench my curiosity. AskYahoo came to the rescue, and ah ha! toothpaste DOES expire.. XD
